My name is Chris, and I love flower gardening, water gardens, pumpkins, bees, herbs, healing and culinary, making lotions and soaps with the herbs and all things fairies and Halloween! I have have a veggie garden for most of the last 35 years, some years very successful, some years total flops! Last year I decided to try my hand at having a raised veggie garden. Unfortunately, last years garden was one of the complete flop years! I got the beds formed, planted, and then promptly came down with shingles. One of my healing lotions helped heal the open shingle sores very quickly, but the lingering pain lasted most of the summer. So the weeds won the battle last year.
This year, I decided to put landscape fabric down before I planted the veggie garden, and that has helped so much! It usually takes me about half an hour tops to weed the veggie garden now! I have my own bee hive this year, so I decided I am going to go totally organic on my veggie and flower gardens to help protect the bees. I wish I could say the flower gardens only take a half an hour to weed..but..one, there's a WHOLE lot more flower gardens than veggie garden..and there's no landscape fabric on them..so they are a constant work in progress! I will post some pictures of this years adventure so far, after bit..and with the weather we have had this year, it has truly been an adventure!
